From the recording Transformation
At one point I re-injured my left index finger and wasn’t playing much piano. The composition of this piece began with predominantly avoiding the use of my left index finger. As my finger healed, the piece grew in complexity.
There is a steady pulse throughout the piece, with an anchoring, centering nature that gently calls out in the beginning. It is supported with a rich melody in the bass that returns in the end. There is also a Celtic, joyful dance to one’s step that then slowly, in half time, returns us to the rooted, grounding nature of the beginning.
